Admissions Package and Trial
Once a tour has taken place and there is interest in the student attending, an admissions package will need to be completed and returned, either electronically for in paper. Once the admissions package is submitted, coordination can take place to attend the school for a one-week trial. During the trial, the student will be assigned to a class or classes for the week. If your child is a lodging student (living farther than 115 km or 70 minutes bus ride away), they will stay in lodging for the week. We will arrange for your child to be transported to and from the school for the week. Day students may attend a shorter trial period, but a week is typically recommended.
Assessments
During the trial period, assessments will be provided to get a better understanding of the student’s academic and Expanded Core Curriculum needs. These assessments are not challenging or time-consuming. The results of these assessments can be shared with parents after the trial week has concluded.
Admissions Committee
When the admission package is complete and the trial period has taken place, the student's file is presented to the admissions committee. The admissions committee will determine whether the appropriate criteria to attend the school are met. The Superintendent may then make an offer of admission, pending an Identification Review and Placement Committee meeting in the student's school board that supports application to WRMS.
