For a student to be eligible for a placement at the Provincial School for the Deaf, the student must:
- Meet the admissions requirements outlined in O. Reg 296
- Qualify as a resident pupil of a school board (Education Act: Section 32) and be registered in their home school, in the board in Ontario for which they qualify as an Ontario resident pupil
- Be under the age of 21 years on the first day of the school year
- Make an application
- Have an audiogram indicating type and level of hearing (e.g., mild, moderate, severe, profound, etc.)
- Have a recommendation from an Identification, Placement, and Review Committee (IPRC) at the school board that the student be placed at a School for the Deaf. The board must provide a copy of the IPRC statement to our admissions committee
Our resource team will consult with the student, family and school-based team to provide information and support the application process for students considering placement in a Provincial School for the Deaf in accordance with regulation 296 of the Education Act.
