Daily School Transportation – Day Students

In the event of inclement weather, your home school board determines whether or not to cancel daily school bus transportation. When the decision is made to cancel transportation, it is cancelled for the entire day. Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring the cancellation of transportation for their home school board. If daily school bus transportation is cancelled and your child is a day student and you bring your child to school, please remember you must pick them up at the end of the school day. When day transportation is cancelled, but school is open, parents/guardians who keep their children at home, MUST report this absence before the school day starts.

Weekly School Transportation – Lodging Students

If inclement weather is predicted for the beginning of the week (i.e., Sunday or Monday), the PDSB may make the determination to postpone students’ arrival until the following day. If inclement weather is predicted for the end of the week (i.e., Friday), the PDSB may make the determination to re-schedule student transportation to leave earlier in the week. Any changes to weekly student transportation will be communicated to parents/guardians by the Student Support Manager or PDSB Transportation Coordinator.

Cancellation/Closures

On occasion, severe weather conditions may require the PDSB to cancel transportation, modify operations or in extraordinary cases, close schools, student lodgings, offices or departments. The Executive Director of PDSB will determine whether it is necessary depending on the weather and road conditions.

A decision regarding any cancellations/closure due to inclement weather will be made no later than 6:45 a.m.
All possible efforts will be made to share this information with all parents/guardians no later than 6:45 a.m.
The decision will be shared in the following ways: 

• An email to all parents
• Posted on the school’s website
